I have an 8 series LED 3D TV connected to cable provider Virgin Media in the UK but the option for subtitles is greyed out.
This came to light because I was trying to play a .mkv which included subtitles through a usb connection.

The subtilte file needs to be its own file. Not inside the MKV.
And if you want to campaign for subtitles INSIDE the mkv, go right ahead. At least this area has been discussed and let's hope you can now fix it.
Also, THERE CAN BE ONLY ONE subtitle file. Another well covered limit.
